About this Session

Problem strings consist of carefully crafted sequences of related math problems that help students develop robust mathematical reasoning. More tightly crafted than number talks to rely on more than just talk, they are designed to ensure that fluency and progressive mathematical development result. Six new books, one for each grade (k-5), were released this year on the topic of fluency. They each contain strings on numbers and operations, generating patterns, representation, and interpretation of data, measurement conversion, measurement of area, perimeter, and angles, and reasoning with shapes and their properties.
