About this speaker
Shelley and Tara have been research partners since the start of the Ontario fractions research (led by Dr. Cathy Bruce at Trent University) in 2011, and are co-authors along with Cathy Bruce of the resource Rethinking Fractions: 8 Core Concepts to Support Assessment and Learning. Shelley retired from the classroom as a secondary school mathematics and Student Success teacher in Trillium Lakelands District School Board after years as a K–12 curriculum consultant with the board, followed by a lengthy secondment as a mathematics Project Lead for the Council of Ontario Directors of Education. Tara has been integral in shaping Dr. Bruce’s mathematics education research program at Trent University for the past 17 years, most recently as Director of Research.
