I didn’t used to consider myself a “math person” so when I was told I would be teaching only math and science and the choice of what grade level to teach (in Spanish no less) I chose Kindergarten. I thought, Kindergarten math is easy right? I had no idea how complex and nuanced it was to develop number sense and I had a hard time finding what I was looking for. I have spent the last 10 years doing a deep dive into the intricacies of counting and number sense and am sharing, and how to support students in gaining a solid foundation for any problem (math or otherwise) they will see as they grow.
