I am a mathematics educator and professor at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, USA. I have been a K-5 math specialist, a middle and high school teacher, and now teach preservice and practicing teachers. Across these experiences and years, my passion is to address mathematics teaching practices that deny students access to important mathematics. This is the focus of the books and articles I write. Recent books include: Elementary and Middle School Mathematics: Teaching Developmentally (there is a U.S. and Canadian version of this book!); Math Fact Fluency: 60+ Games and Assessment Tools to Support Student Learning (2019); Figuring out Fluency in Mathematics Teaching and Learning (2021); and others.
