Dr. Farshid Safi is a K-12 mathematics education faculty member at the School of Teacher Education in the College of Community Innovation & Education at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando. Over the last 20+ years, he has taught at multiple universities and colleges throughout the U.S. and Canada as well as teaching high school mathematics in Florida. In addition, he is very active in professional development efforts with teachers and school districts in the U.S. and Canada at both elementary & secondary levels. Farshid focuses on developing teachers conceptual understanding of K-16 mathematics through an emphasis on connections and coherence while engaging, empowering and elevating students and teachers through mathematical experiences. Recently, his teaching and research efforts involve developing content knowledge for teaching through an intentional emphasis on social justice and equitable teaching practices.
