About this Speaker

Dr. Ayanna Perry is a skillful educator with varied experiences working with secondary in-service and pre-service high school mathematics and science teachers. Her work with teachers was the catalyst for her dissertation work studying math teachers’ classroom practice, where one of the outcomes was a description of seven features that define equitable classroom spaces. She has presented at regional and national conferences and has authored blogs and articles, and co-authored Five to thrive- Answers to Your Biggest Questions About Teaching Secondary Math. Currently, she works at the Knowles Teacher Initiative, a nonprofit designed to support early-career biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics teachers in their efforts to develop teaching expertise and lead from the classroom. There she works with a team of educators to support, mentor, and coach math and science teachers.
